Art Project 4: Found Art

For the last art project I chose "found art." I wanted this particular art project to be my last one so I would have plenty of time to find items to use, but I didn't even need all of that time to work on the project.

"Found art" is where you literally have found items that you use to create a cohesive piece. These items typically have nothing to do with the overall picture of the artwork, but the items used can be manipulated to help create the overall desired piece. I am unsure if young students would be able to find items that are not related and critically think about how they were going to create artwork from it, but it could definitely be a work in progress with them.

I just assumed that I had to go somewhere to find something for my art project, but I realized that I didn't even have to go far at all. I looked inside my own home and found my fruit and vegetables that I love to eat. I found some ink pads with my teacher things and made art from them both. I used strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and broccoli and dipped each one on the ink pad and used the fruits and vegetables as stamp on a piece of paper.

This art project was very fun for me, and opened my eyes to realizing that artwork can be created from literally anything. This would be something fairly easy for students to do using items from home, or items found in the classroom.
